What is CrossFit?
CrossFit was founded in 2000 by Greg and Lauren Glassman. It has since grown into a World Wide community with over 10,000 affiliates of like minded Gyms.
CrossFit is not a franchise. Each CF Gym or Box is a privately owned business which is affiliated with CF HQ. No two CF gyms are the same as each is left to conduct business and training as they see fit. When choosing a CF gym, always ensure to take close note of the trainers experience qualifications and the quality of the gym before making your decision. CrossFit South West Sydney opened in 2010 and was the first affiliate in Cambelltown and has an excellent reputation across NSW. CrossFit is not circuit training. CrossFit is a strength and conditioning program designed to improve all aspects of fitness. We use Metabolic conditioning, Olympic Lifting, Power Lifting, Strongman and Gymnastics to help develop athletes who are balanced in every aspect of fitness. All classes are planned, structured, supervised and scaled to the individual. All fitness levels are catered for and beginners are very welcome. Classes run with groups of 8-15 and the social group environment is what gives CrossFit its great success. It has allowed fitness to become fun again. It definitely hurts, but somehow you finish with a smile on your face. CrossFit is a deliberate attempt to optimise physical competence in each of ten recognized fitness domains.
A deficiency in any of these aspects of fitness will result in a decrease in your athletic potential.
A good CrossFit athlete may not be the best at any one particular skill, but they’ll be close. When it comes down to it, would you rather just be able to do one thing? Or would you like to be able to do everything?
Who can do CrossFit? Anyone who is committed to improving their health and well being. All levels of fitness and ability are welcome. We can cater to everyone from elite athletes to first time gym users. The CrossFit program is designed for universal scalability making it the perfect application for any committed individual regardless of experience. We scale load and intensity; we don’t change programs. The needs of Olympic athletes and our grandparents differ by degree not kind.
